Sometimes, you need the benefit of traditional machining with the advantage of modern flair. This is where The Di-Spark Group marry traditional with contemporary, manufacturing components produced using the combination of multi-task mill-turn (milling and turning) and electrical discharge machining (EDM machining).
Multi Task Milling and Turning
Current mill turn machining technology presents machines such as the Mazak J-200, an industry work-horse multi-tasking milling & turning centre capable of ‘raw billet to finished component’ within a single setup. Complex component manufacture is possible via CAM programming, which in turn saves time and money over traditional ‘multi-setups per-component’ .

Wire Erosion (Wire Cut) Machining
Wire erosion, an electrical discharge machining process using a wire electrode as a cutting edge, is suitable for cutting unusual component shapes and hardened materials – such as a part-finished component which started life via mill-turn machining, received a hardening process and now requires fine contours machined with wire erosion (often referred to as wire-cut) machining.

Spark Erosion (Sparking) Machining
Spark erosion is also an electrical discharge machining process, but in this case a spark is generated which ‘erodes’ material due to the intense heat generated. Spark erosion machining is useful for fine details and contours, fine internal holes and apertures, very close tolerances, very small components and fine finishes.
