Spark Eroded Components
Di-Spark Ltd manufacture spark eroded components, parts and sub-assemblies (a machining process also referred to as spark EDM or die-sink) destined for mission critical operations. Spark Erosion is a form of electrical discharge machining, an innovative non-contact machining process which is applicable to any conductive material. Particularly useful for the machining of hard or pre-hardened metals, alloys and materials, this machining process is capable of manufacturing pre-hardened materials to close tolerances and a high degree of accuracy and strength. Spark Eroded components produced with spark electrical discharge machining, can in some circumstances save manufacturing costs in cases where advanced traditional machining, such as 5 axis machining, experience issues in the milling of hard and difficult to machine materials.
Spark eroded components are often used in mission critical circumstances where strength, material integrity and overall quality is not open to compromise. This makes Spark eroded components suitable for aerospace/aviation component and sub-assembly manufacture, and of course sub-contract component manufacture for the defence sector. The oil & gas industry are frequent customers of spark eroded components – sometimes combined with advanced traditional milling, again due to the mission critical nature of these components. Satellite manufacture requires a high degree of accuracy and quality control and as a result, wire and spark eroded components often find themselves at the heart of satellite systems and indeed other space vehicles.
